Arts, Books, & Handicrafts:

Simply Sustainable

I am an artisan and work with two different means – jewelry and photography. I work with a few different styles of jewelry, however the two main types are macrame and wire work. The macrame work is a new spin on a classic technique. While traveling through Latin America, I learned from some of the greatest Artisan how to take tying knots to the next level. Some of my pieces take upwards of 10 hours and are all made with a high quality waxed polyester string, and for the most part include semi-precious stones from all over the world.
Wire work was my first style of jewelry, and since I started in 2007 wrapping stones, I have dedicated my time to improving the art and the materials. I am currently producing a series with fine silver and authentic semi-precious stones.
My photography is something I picked up along the way. The idea of capturing a moment in time as I see it – to share it with the world has kept me on my toes. Mother Nature is my favorite subject – with her in mind I keep it all very natural – minimal edits are made before the shots are sent to print.

Burke’s Impressed Ideas

Make cards, bookmarks and pictures out of local pressed flowers.  As an activity for the day children of all ages can make something for themselves out of my pressed flowers to take home, something small like a 5×7 picture or a bookmark.

Wolsak and Wynn

Wolsak and Wynn is a literary press based in Hamilton. We are dedicated to publishing clear, passionate Canadian voices in poetry and non-fiction. We believe that poetry has the power to crystallize and express the diverse life of this country in the most concentrated form, while non-fiction unfurls these experiences for the reader.

gritLIT

A gritLIT representative will be available to provide information about the festival and to showcase the work of some of the local writers who have read at gritLIT.

Ruth and Erin Webster

I am currently a vendor with the Maker’s Market. I am more of a hobbyist than a business. I make enough to pay for supplies. My daughter Erin is also at my booth with glass bead and some crystal jewellry. Myself, I make greeting cards by hand using rubberstamps and other techniques. One of my specialties is vintage looking cards.(ie Victorian ladies, old fashioned cars, vintage Paris etc.)
We enjoy meeting people and being part of community events.

Ruth and Erin Webster are donating a package of all occasion greeting cards to the event (about $40 retail value).

Terri, ReDesign

I make and redesign jewelery, from vintage pieces and odds and ends. I also have vintage clothing which I have just started selling.

Scallywag Bags

I am a vendor and I make tote bags out of recycled men’s trouser, shirt, tie and suit fabrics. Scallywag Bags are bags for your booty!

Katie Favell Designs

I make one of a kind handcrafted jewelry. I use a lot of old material from broken vintage jewelry to make something new and beautiful. Also a lot of my jewelry is inspired by nature so the pieces also contain stones, pearls, hemp, and shells. I keep my tables simple and elegant to show off the colours of the beads. I am a local artisan and hope to showcase that fact as well.

Tremblay et al

I am a local artisan that works with preloved items and re-invents them into one of a kind gifts.  I am presently creating: women’s and girls skirts and aprons from vintage tablecloths; journals from recycled books; fabric gift bags from vintage canvas bank bags; and jewellery from vintage jewellery pieces.
